Houston Youth
Voters Conference 2021

The 4th Annual Houston Youth Voters Conference (HYVC) will take place on Friday, October 8th from 1:30-3pm CDT and Saturday, October 9th from 10am-3pm.

HYVC is a student-led, non-partisan conference dedicated to empowering us as Houston youth to impact change in our communities and become civically educated. In 2021, we've seen more discussion than ever about voting rights, and the Texas legislature has been making the national news. We've also seen the growing importance of local politics, as city and county leaders have made decisions on everything from mask mandates to budget allocation.

We believe that we as Houston youth can make a big impact locally, and that it's important for us to be informed. So, we're bringing you our most exciting conference lineup yet featuring speakers, information about voter suppression, chances to speak with local officials who will be on your ballot this year, a recap of the Texas legislature's year so far and its upcoming special sessions, policy discussions with your peers, a student activist panel, and an organization fair with activism opportunities! The conference will be held primarily in person this year, but we're also featuring lots of remote friendly options.

The goal of HYVC is to increase youth civic education and participation, uplift marginalized communities, empower student activists, and inspire our generation to get out the vote. If any of that sounds exciting to you, please join us at the conference and follow us on Instagram @htxyouthvoters and on Facebook at the Houston Youth Voters Conference to get involved!
